A new look for Genesee Cream Ale
Following in the footsteps of Red Eye and Light, the brewery's iconic Cream Ale is getting a refreshed design. Plus, news on Roc Brewing's relaunch.
Fresh off relaunching its Beer and Light, Genesee Brewery’s iconic Cream Ale is getting a new look.
First introduced in 1960 by legendary brewmaster Clarence Geminn, marketing officials at the brewery said the refreshed “packaging better connects to Genesee’s heritage and with a fresh, clean look.” Light and Red Eye got new labels in September.
Cream Ale quickly became one of the brewery’s flagship offerings and has earned multiple gold medals at the World Beer Cup. More than 60 years later, the beer still uses Geminn’s original recipe.
“We’re re-launching the brand with new packaging to introduce Genesee Cream Ale to the next generation of beer drinkers,” the brewery announced in a release.
Roc Brewing relaunch
Good bye hot dogs, hello hamburgers!
After parting ways with the FLX Wienery as a food partner in October, Roc Brewing said it would take some time to regroup and relaunch. Now, the brewery, located at 56 S. Union St., is unveiling a redesigned taproom and pairing it with an updated food and drink menu.
Brewery co-founder Chris Spinelli said the goal was “to create a warm and inviting environment.”
The redesigned food menu combines pub grub and popular regional dishes. By overwhelmingly popular demand, Roc’s regionally famous tater tot waffles are back. Spinelli said he was often asked when the tot waffle would return. He also said the brewery’s new smash burger and falafel burger are amazing.

In addition to a relaunched food menu, general manager Heather Van Leuven said Roc is adding a full selection of cocktails and mocktails. The brewery also added a horizontal lagering tank, making it the first craft brewery in Monroe County to feature this type of fermentation vessel. This means you can expect a wider range of lagered offerings from Roc in the near future.
