The voting public has spoken! New Genesee Citrus Pils tabbed as brewery’s next seasonal
Brewery's next seasonal was among four candidates the community could vote on.
In the second most contentious election in recent memory, an undisputed winner has emerged. And there’s no way to contest or doubt these results, unless you plan to storm the brewery at 445 St. Paul St.
The public has spoken — the new Genesee Brewery seasonal is the Citrus Pils, the winter cousin to Ruby Red Kolsch, the brewery stated. Joining the ranks of the brewery’s other releases, the community picked this worthy candidate after an election was held earlier this year. More than 10,000 ballots were cast! (Cinnamon Pear, Winter Berry, and Apple were the other candidates in the Genesee for ‘23 campaign.)
Genny’s new beer should be hitting shelves in early November, the brewery announced Thursday morning.
Photo: I might’ve been tipped off to this announcement a few weeks back when I noticed this display ready to go out. I am so wildly excited to try this one.
The Citrus Pils features both tangerine and lime flavors. And since the Genny brewhouse is perfectly built to produce German-style classics, you know this beer will be as crispy and dry as can be.
It’ll be available in 12 packs of 12-ounce cans exclusively. (And I’m sure we’ll also see it on draft around town, too.) According to the brewery, it won in a landslide. Though, I’ll admit that I voted for the Pear Cinnamon. I would love to see that one make an appearance in the future. But if not, I’d settle for the return of the brewery’s Northern German Pilsner.
Here’s an unsolicited idea: Genny should resurrect some of its classic brands, especially those from the J.W. Dundee line, and package them in a variety pack as “Genny Rewind” or “Genny Greatest Hits.” I bet that would hit some nostalgic notes and be a big success.
The brewery said Citrus Pils will be available in the following states: New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Maryland, Vermont, and Ohio.
And maybe there is one more new beer headed our way?! (Hint: There is one more new beer slated to be released in the coming weeks. I am so wildly excited about this one, too. Expect news on a second new Genny beer next week.)
Love the idea of a Genny Classics rewind.
