UPDATE: You can pick the local breweries for the 2025 Rochester Real Beer Expo
Online voting is now open (now with a corrected hyperlink)
Edit (10:08 p.m.): I fucked up. I screwed up the voting link. Please use this one.
I am kindly asking you to make your voice heard, if you haven’t yet done so. Online voting is currently open for the 2025 Rochester Real Beer Expo.
This year’s Expo is on Saturday, June 7, at Innovative Field in downtown Rochester.
As I previously stated, I am not curating this year. Life is a bit too chaotic (in a good way — I remain #teamentropy through and through). Kids are both the best and most maddening thing I’ve ever experienced. I never thought I’d be involved in meltdowns over what pants to wear, but the surly 3-year-old roommate has big feelings and big opinions.

Oh yeah, back to the Expo. As is tradition, local folks can pick the local breweries that will pour at the event. Original Expo curator Joe McBane started this tradition, and I proudly carried it on through the two editions I curated.
Photo: Maybe I have a future as a George Costanza-like hand model. I am very excited to see what glass Rob and crew pick for the VIP glass this year.
I recommended Rob Richenberg to take over as this year’s curator. (Of course, this came after Rob vocally volunteered his services, over and over and over again. He’s a very excitable dude. I’d compare him to a golden doodle. That’s just a nice way to saying he’s full of energy and passion.)
Rob runs the BrewBuddies, a boutique local distributor that partners with a lot of interesting smaller brands in WNY. I am very, very interested (and a touch scared) to see how this influences the 2025 Expo participants.
Rob is currently running the local vote. You can log your choices and pick the 20 spots you’d like to see at the Expo. Hopefully these results are a little less depressing than the last presidential election (and if your favorite brewery doesn’t make it, please don’t storm whatever local brewery you might be beefing with).
Vote here: https://www.rochesterrealbeer.com/vote. It’s open for about 24 more hours.
For more information, contact Rob at rob@brewbuddiesny.com. And if you own a brewery and want to participate, harass Rob. He weirdly likes it.
