Will, sorry about your loss—no words. But, hopefully the love & support of friends, family & your beer community will help ease the pain.

Like your Dad, I don’t drink beer, but I’m a fan of yours from the stories you tell. Glad his newspaper hobby rubbed off on you. I’ll be thinking about you & your extended family.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. Losing those we love and care deeply for is never easy. It's also important to grieve however you need to grieve and it seems writing is a way for you to do that. I find writing during such tough times works well for me too. I'm also a big Dr Suess fan and I love the following quote (although actually disputed on it's true author) as it has helped me through ups and downs in life and losing people I care about: 'Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened'. While still not easy, remember all the time you got with your dad -- which it seems you have done with your great article about him. And remember, we always have to move forward in our life journey but we get to keep the memories we make along the way forever. Nobody can ever take those memories away from us.

So deeply sorry, Will. We lost my dad to that bastard cancer, too & can concur with you on the amazing humans at Wilmot & Strong. It's nice to learn more about your dad, Audie will appreciate learning about him via your memories, too. Wishing you & your whole family peace & warm memories in a remarkably difficult time. 💙

Beautiful tribute. You will teach your son about his grandfather over the years, with stories you hinted at here. It's a blessing you will have the precious memories of your son with your dad to relate to him. I am so sorry for your loss.

Will , deeply sadden to hear of Geoff’s passing. Last time we spoke we said we’d get out and golf and we never did. Good friend from our work together at the big yellow box. I’m sorry for ‘our’ loss. Peace

Sorry for your loss Will. He sounds like the typical dad: knows enough about everything to be dangerous, the love for his grandson, proud of his son and grumpy. I have a somewhat estranged relationship with my dad. Not that we don’t get along, but more that he’s got his routine and is set in his ways and they don’t quite intersect with mine. I’m not ready to have an 11:00am daily beer, although I could. Or religiously take the 2:00pm nap. Again, easily could. Or being in bed by 8:00. Sometimes, I wish I could. But mostly because he went from being the fun guy when I was a kid, the life of the party. Then like a flip of a light switch, he got old. He got boring. He didn’t want to be bothered. Like, he paid his dues, did his job and he’s done. Raise that white flag. Me, I’m still living, got adventures to go on, memories to make. Now I’m the life of party, the fun guy. And perhaps I need to step back and appreciate who I got this from.

This article is a wake up call. Don’t wait before it’s too late because before you know it, the game is over. Again, sorry for your loss my man. But in a weird way, your loss could end up being my gain. And I think you might absolutely welcome and appreciate that. Rip Geoff

Beautiful tribute to your dad. Cancer robs us of so much, especially time with those we love. What it cannot do, however, is ever steal the memories. Those will live on and you will see those beloved traits of your father living on in your son as you watch him grow up. Sincere condolences to you and your family, Will.
